Roles & Responsibilities
The Associate Vice Chancellor for Wellness, Health & Counseling Services oversees seven independent centers on campus. These include Campus Recreation, CARE, Child Care Services, the Counseling Center, the Disability Services Center, the Student Health Center, and the Center for Student Wellness & Health Promotion.
Additional services are housed within the Office of the AVC, which include the Office of the Campus Social Worker and Faculty/Staff Support Services. The Office of the AVC also provides consultation on a range of issues impacting the campus community, and coordinates the management of urgent and critical incidents with the campus Consultation Team.
Beyond management of the cluster units, services and financial resources, the Associate Vice Chancellor supports the health of the campus as the point-person and Vice Chancellor's representative on all student wellness issues to campus and community constituents. To help meet the needs of UCI students, the AVC works to contribute constructive advocacy around issues that impact mental and physical health and wellbeing of the campus community, and engages in developing and nurturing strategic partnerships with other campus and non-university entities.
